Rambla Recolons was the central area in Caldes where the majority of chalets and apartments for rent were concentrated before the Civil War.
But once war broke out, the need to relocate different refugees was so high that any likely to be occupied was expropriated and used to meet hospital and accommodation needs. The Ribot Inn was one of the establishments that had to accommodate 58 of the 950 Italian sailors who arrived in the town in 1944. Their stay caused quite a commotion and many conflicts, which were calmed down with military rigour.
