Several volcanic outcrops stand out here. On St. Maurice Hill there is a chimney (volcanic conduit through which magma, gases and projection materials rise and are emitted) formed by prismatic basalts from 4.4 million years ago. On both sides of the train track, close to Can Teixidor, are outcrops of very altered basalts of a chronology that we could locate in the Pliocene (between 5.3 and 2.5 million years). Finally, the volcanic building of Camp dels Ninots, situated in the southeast of the municipality, has a chronology of 3.2 million years.
The existence of thermal waters and their proximity to the Vía Augusta are the key to understanding the start of significant thermal spa activity in Roman times in the city of Caldes de Malavella.
The renowned properties of the thermal water of Caldes de Malavella that was offered to the spas motivated that those who were not staying in those establishments also wanted to have it, and this fact favored that it was bottled and distributed in many places.
Space allocated to promoting this scientific vocation among school pupils using the knowledge provided by the Camp dels Ninots site, with methods and techniques used in the excavation works at the Camp dels Ninots site.
