During the presence of military and civilian refugee contingents, the washing places and clothes lines of Caldes became a hot spot of interaction between inhabitants and the new arrivals. At the washing places, clothes could be washed with hot water at a temperature of 60 degrees and then, of course, had to be hung out to dry.
