The Medieval castle and walls

12th century. Medieval castle built on the remains of Roman thermal baths. It was demolished between the 18th and 19th centuries. Today, only part of the wall and the towers remain as a witness.

12th – 14th centuries. The town of Caldes had from the 14th century a wall that defended the population. Of this wall, several sections are preserved, located in Cal Ferrer de la Plaça, at the Sant Grau Hermitage and on the canal that follows the La Mina hot spring source. The face of the walls is squared ashlars arranged in interspersed courses and loopholes. The castle had its own wall of much older origin, of which three defensive towers are preserved, one built on the remains of the Roman thermal baths.
